ECT might be a nice buzz. Perhaps sufferers forget some of the things which made them depressed when they dwelled on them after ECT/ketamine/other inducers of amnesia. I suffer depression myself and would consider ECT if my antidepressants no longer kept me from feeling severely depressed. Luckily, I have always managed to find a new antidepressant or a much higher dose of one that I'm already on before getting to the ECT decision. Also, after working as a researcher on a psychiatry ward for 15 years I never met anyone who complained of amnesia after even such a long course of ECT as 15 sessions over a month. I don't know which anesthetic was used- and I know that some people were given a small dose of Midazolam so they would not remember being in the room with the ECT machine. I think people who use ketamine recreationally are just plain foolish- there is nothing in the substance which ought to make people feel good- they're kidding themselves with expectations, just as we did long ago with LSD.Murfomurfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12975382358013125434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21605329.post-48991766836172400832011-09-19T12:37:33.236-07:002011-09-19T12:37:33.236-07:00I think it's relevant that many of us use keta...I think it's relevant that many of us use ketamine recreationally, but nobody that I've ever heard of uses ECT recreationally.Sister Yhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01003897317594535536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21605329.post-47714040089977703372011-09-07T13:57:59.700-07:002011-09-07T13:57:59.700-07:00I am so sorry you lost your father. I guess I better finish up figuring out how to heal everyone, right? No problem. Not like people haven't been trying to figure out how to heal everything from the dawn of humanity, but I shall accomplish this feat! Or... I'll day dream about it. And stuff.SustainableFamilieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08820607553556177222noreply@blogger.com
