Who cares? The fact that this is true of virtually all psychiatric conditions, as you point out, means that it is an utterly meaningless finding. It's like the finding that "attentional problems" characterize virtually all major psychiatric disorders. Big deal. But somehow, in our supposedly advanced age of "neuropsychiatry" with our vaunted neuroimaging technology, findings such as "hypometabolism in the frontal lobes" is supposed to convey some superior air of scientific elegance. And it doesn't explain anything at all. It's like the old days when psychoanalysts used to say "the patient has a weak ego" as if that explained anything. BTW, personality disorders, like antisocials, also have hypometabolism of the frontal lobes. Hell, I probably have it too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21605329.post-18688853683544975632010-06-20T06:18:15.109-07:002010-06-20T06:18:15.109-07:00With all the testing she underwent, I am stunned t...With all the testing she underwent, I am stunned that she wasn't administered to some good projective personality measures, like the TAT and Rorschach as well as a test like the IAT. These measures would have likely pinpointed the psychogenic issue or issues involved in her memory loss.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
