It isn't. It's a carnivore that can eat starchy vegetable matter and fruits. Just like the chimps.
We lack the digestive system for processing cellulose henceforth we are not omnivores.

Furthermore i notice that as specialization progresses the overview get's lost. This being that 'we' just ride the monkey's back and as such not that much in control.
This whole partitioning of the brain to underwrite higher processes is absurd.
blatant spam: http://petrossa.wordpress.com/2010/05/16/free-will-does-it-exist/petrossahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05660407099521700995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21605329.post-39154097093097920682010-06-09T22:51:39.734-07:002010-06-09T22:51:39.734-07:00My ex was a strict vegan for about a year before w...My ex was a strict vegan for about a year before we broke up, before that a vegetarian for most of her life.

She's doesn't have much empathy, either.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21605329.post-47237450281050868332010-06-09T01:54:27.223-07:002010-06-09T01:54:27.223-07:00Well I don't know what to make of this study, ...Well I don't know what to make of this study, but I agree with Satoshi Kanazawa that we vegetarians are more intelligent than meat eaters. And better in every other way.

Seriously though, I'm surprised the vegan brains weren't even more different. The amygdale downregulation you speak of could be a result of that kind of conditioning as well as the concerted effort I now put in to not letting this kind of imagery ruin my day.

Also, you may want to consider the kinds of violent urges that people in groups like PETA have been known to have through the lens of self-defense rather than aggression. These people believe animals are suffering greatly and given their empathy scores, are theoretically projecting themselves into the role of the animals they empathize with - thus a perceived attack on them would engender the kind of self-defense response I just mentioned.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04510706035553411837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21605329.post-61476709668121961812010-06-01T10:00:41.870-07:002010-06-01T10:00:41.870-07:00Good point.
